Students pursuing a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at the university of Akron deepen their fundamental knowledge of chemical engineering and gain professional skills and hand-on experiences for industrial careers. The program offers a thesis and non-thesis option. Our flexible curriculum allows students to combine courses in project management, data science, computer science, materials science and sustainability with advanced core chemical engineering courses to create a unique program advance to your educational and career goals. Your studies will concentrate on process engineering themes such as separation processes, fluid systems, mass transfer and material properties, all of which capitalise on our research strengths. Developing your technical knowledge and competencies over two years may lead to further extensive research, or a career in chemical engineering or related industries. You’ll study advanced chemical engineering areas such as process safety and control, nanomaterials, energy generation from renewable resources and process modelling and simulation. And enhance your critical thinking skills and specialist knowledge to address global challenges in the field of chemical engineering. You will deepen your knowledge through opportunities to: learn from leading experts across the breadth of our Chemical Engineering discipline, acquire technical and human skills, explore industrial processes, with an emphasis on design and energy efficiency, implement solutions to actual chemical engineering problems, and hone your communication skills to present your original achievements
