Welcome to the Associate of Science Degree Barbering

This program prepares students for licensing as a Barber. The Barbering program requires 1000 hours of comprehensive training in all facets of the Barbering Industry. Courses focus on theoretical fundamentals, practical manipulative skills, business knowledge, career development in the field, and the professional and ethical training needed for licensing through the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Prepared with excellent entry-level and some advanced skills, students are able to work in many facets of the Barbering industry. Skyline College's Barbering program is approved by: California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Identify career and continuing educational options in the Barbering industry and plan actions towards achieving those goals and objectives. Critically consider, analyze and research special issues in Barbering and their effects on society. Recognize the importance of and practice ethical behavior in a professional work setting, both within the workforce and within the community. Demonstrate Barbering applied efforts.

English Language Requirement

Skyline College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
