The Bachelor
of Science in Middle Grades Education (Science with Biology Option) is a
specialized degree designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching
science particularly life sciences to students. This program blends
foundational coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science with
pedagogical training tailored to the developmental needs of middle-grade
learners. Students gain a deep understanding of biological concepts such as
ecosystems, genetics, cellular processes, and human anatomy, while also
learning how to translate complex scientific ideas into engaging,
age-appropriate lessons. Our Teaching inquiry-based learning, hands-on
experimentation, and interdisciplinary approaches that connect science to
real-world issues. Through field experiences and student teaching placements,
candidates develop classroom management skills,instructional strategies, and
the ability to foster curiosity and critical thinking in diverse educational
settings.
