This
interdisciplinary area of emphasis focuses on the development of communication
skills, introduces students to the legal field, and prepares students for
further study in a variety of majors such as Political Science, Communication
Studies, Economics, Philosophy, Social and Behavioral Sciences. Students who
opt to pursue this course of study are encouraged to engage in further
exploration of one or more specific majors as they select electives for degree
completion. Effectively
communicate the impact of state and non-state actors on the development and
implementation of policy. Critically analyze political
theories and ideologies. Discuss the impact of ethnic,
cultural and economic diversity on political issues and policy. Evaluate
ethical issues and conflicts inherent to political issues.
Career Path
Some
business firms and government agencies seek persons with a broad overview and
perspective of the operation of government. In addition to a career as a
political scientist, career possibilities include employment with the federal,
state and local governments; law; business; international organizations.
