About This Programme

This course will provide students with advanced techniques in Java. In particular, students will acquire knowledge in the overall architecture and components of Java SDK and JRE, use of advanced programming techniques (e.g., multi threads, reading/writing streams, XML writing and reading, generics, regular expressions, exception handling and testing) and code documentation (e.g. generate API) of the software developed. The ability to program or at least to understand how programming works and what it can do is very important for approaching most if not all global challenges of today, be it climate change, crisis management, tackling health issues, or fighting poverty and discrimination, because programming enables the use of available data and tools to recombine them into useful, specific applications that help people to make better informed decisions.

Eligibility Requirements
Post Study Work Visa

Undergraduate student can work up to 20 hours per week and full time during official school breaks and vacations. Post completion Optional Practical Training allows graduates to work for 12 months and STEM graduate are eligible for a 24 month extension.

English Language Requirement

Westcliff University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, evidence of English study within a 12 year education system where English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. For applicants who do not yet meet the English language requirement, there are two pathways to achieve the necessary level:

Pre sessional English Programme; Students may successfully complete a preparatory English programme offered by the university before beginning their academic course. Recognized English Proficiency Tests; Students may submit one of the following minimum scores prior to the start of their program: IELTS: 6.5 overall band score (or equivalent), TOEFL or PTE: Score of 60, Duolingo English Test: Score of 120.
