The exercise science program prepares students through the study of human movement to pursue careers in health and fitness, personal training, strength and conditioning, cardiac rehabilitation and professional graduate programs.This bachelor's degree program provides students the ability to focus their degree. Affords students the opportunity to pursue a variety of employment opportunities in health and fitness, corporate wellness, research, clinical and strength and conditioning industries. Exercise Science also prepares students for graduate school in exercise physiology, athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy as well as medical school, chiropractic school, physician's assistant, and many other opportunities. Our Faculty are innovative and experienced, infuse experiential learning, simulation and multimedia technology to enhance the classroom experience, are active in current research, national organizations and local community agencies, and encourage students to be critical thinkers and problem solvers. Real World Experience The bachelor's degree program requires all students to complete a practicum (internship) of at least 90 hours prior to graduation. Service learning and volunteer opportunities to be involved and give back to the community are built into coursework to prepare students for employment Collaboration with professionals in the field. Interpersonal collaboration with multiple disciplines. The exercise science major is designed to prepare students for employment in commercial, corporate, clinical, community and government agencies with interest in the areas of physical activity and health promotion. The program prepares students to sit for certification examinations such as American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist Certified .

Career Path

Graduate career path includes  Community Resilience Officer, Physical Therapist (requires DPT) Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist, Occupational Therapist (requires MOT/OTD), Physician Assistant (PA) (requires PA program), Chiropractor (requires DC degree), Kinesiotherapist, Orthopedic Technician. Athletic Trainer (requires certification/licensure), Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA-CSCS preferred),Biomechanics Research Assistant, Sports Scientist, Performance Enhancement Specialist Rehabilitation Aide or Tech, Exercise Science Research Assistant, Health Promotion Specialist, Wellness Program Coordinator. Public Health Educator. Ergonomics Specialist, Clinical Trials Coordinator.
