When you earn your Bachelor of Arts in Biology
from Webster University, you’ll gain a broad skill set that will help you build
an impactful career in and outside the field of science that may translate to
professional careers like environmental lawyer or researcher, or serve as the
first step before entering medical school. The bachelor of arts degree is
designed for students who seek a broad education in biology. This degree is
suitable preparation for a diverse range of careers including health science,
science education and ecology-related fields. Students can earn the BA in
biology alone, or with one of four emphases: biodiversity, bioinformatics,
education or health science. Students who complete any of the bachelor of arts
in biology will be able to: Describe biological, chemical and physical
principles as they relate to the natural world in writings and presentations to
a diverse audience. Place scientific knowledge into an ethical context,
including how biology can contribute to the resolution of ethical, social and
environmental issues around the globe. Apply the methods of scientific inquiry,
including observation, hypothesis testing, data collection and analysis for
laboratory research.
Career Path
Many of our Biology bachelor’s students go on
to graduate programs to study topics such as data science, occupational therapy
and bioinformatics. They are accepted at some of the nation’s top colleges. Our
Biology majors have found success in rewarding careers, like: Data Scientist, Lab
Coordinator, Microbiologist, Senior Laboratory Technician, Occupational
Therapist, Chiropractor.
