The program appeals to students interested in gaining a deeper understanding of topics in English and a rigorous set of research and writing skills ideal for future graduate study. Students learn from distinguished faculty members in a range of fields, including creative writing. Such development prepares students for a workplace that will continue to evolve in a changing 21st-century world. The Master of Arts in English also provides fundamental preparation for doctoral work, or for entry into other advanced professional schools.
The MA in English program lets students choose ten courses in literary studies, creative and professional writing, rhetorical studies, literacy pedagogies, grammar, linguistics and cultural studies.
