An
Associate in Arts in Journalism for Transfer (AA-T) from Skyline College is
intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State
University (CSU) campus with a major in Journalism, or similar major. The
Skyline Journalism Program prepares students to enter the workforce in
journalism or transfer to four-year institutions as journalism majors, as well
as training students to be media-literate members of the community. Students
gain hands-on experience by working for The Skyline View, the student print and
online publication. Students in the program also have the opportunity to pursue
internships and attend professional conferences. Define
how convergence has impacted journalism, particularly print journalism, and
identify ways to adapt practices and content to that impact. Effectively
communicate information through a variety of platforms, including the Internet
and mobile computing. Write publishable articles.
Career Path
Career Path includes Advertising
and promotions manager, Emergency management director, Marketing and public
relations manager, Reporter, School teacher, reporting,
writing, and editing; multimedia journalism including podcasting and
videography; and workplace skills and leadership. Students will acquire skills
and abilities in a variety of communication media.
