The Recreation and Leisure
Services concentration of the Master of Science of Leisure, Sport, and Tourism
Management at MTSU is for those who are preparing for senior-level positions in
leisure and sport professions or those who are preparing for doctoral-level
work in the leisure and sport fields. The two-year program focuses on parks and
recreation; recreational, college, and professional sport; event planning;
tourism; and resort or hotel administration. The goal of this program is to
prepare individuals to lead leisure and sport organizations, to support the
expansion of the leisure and sport industries, and to conduct research that
advances the body of knowledge in these disciplines. These positions could
include administrators, supervisors, educators, consultants, and researchers to
assist people to live richer and more rewarding lives through leisure programs
and experiences.
Career Path
Graduates may find career avenues
in such fields as Campus recreation, Community recreation, Facilities
management, Military recreation, Outdoor recreation, Parks and recreation
departments, Youth recreation, Athletic administration, Coaching (all levels), Community/public
relations, General management, Professional organization sales.
Middle Tennessee State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction.
