Welcome to the BSc Botany

Botany covers all aspects of the life of plants. It therefore includes their structure and development, physiology and biochemistry, health and disease, relationships with other organisms and the environment (ecology), as well as the traditional aspects of plant identification and classification.

The main emphasis at Sharda University is on the general biology, ecology and physiology of higher plants and marine algae, although other groups (conifers, ferns, mosses and fungi) are also included in the papers offered.

Botanists  might work with food crops, or help wild plant populations recover in the wake of natural disasters. Education in the field of botany can open the door to many careers, most of which will involve working with plants in some capacity. Botany degrees typically have a heavy focus on biology and chemistry but are also likely to include coursework in mathematics, geology, and geography
