Welcome to the BSc. (Hons.) Applied Computer Science

Computing can be amazingly diverse, encompassing computer design, graphics, artificial intelligence, gaming, software engineering, programming and applications development. As you study, you can choose to focus on the core elements of computer science, or to specialise in areas such as software development, mobile applications, computer security, cloud computing, network administration and technical support. The field was developed to answer the need for a business-focused IT professional. In addition to helping those with a computer science degree further their career, the program also prepares those with no background in computer science.The program helps enhance your technical and professional skills so you can develop a high degree of specialization. Learn theoretical computer science, software construction, data analytics, cloud computing and more. Develop software applications. Gain critical reasoning and technical writing skills. Work closely with faculty advisors armed with professional/industrial background.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
