Welcome to the Associate of Science Degree Cosmetology

Prepares students for licensing as a Cosmetologist. Courses in the Cosmetology program focus on theoretical foundation, practical manipulative skills, business knowledge, career development in the field, and professional and ethical training needed for licensing through the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Prepared with excellent entry-level skills, students are able to work in many facets of the beauty industry. Identify career and continuing educational options in the fields of Cosmetology, and plan actions towards achieving those goals and objectives. Recognize the importance of and practice ethical behavior in a professional work setting, both within the work force and within the community. Critically consider, analyze, and research special issues in Cosmetology and their effects on society. Demonstrate Cosmetology applied efforts.

Career Path

Career Paths includes professional cosmetic services in salons, resorts, casinos, dermatologist's offices, and other related industry establishments, platform artist, educator, stylist, colorist, salon owner, sales representative, and makeup artist.

English Language Requirement

Skyline College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
