After completion of core
coursework in the major sub-disciplines, students in the Chemistry M.S. program
have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of research experiences,
including analytical, biochemistry, chemical education, computational and theoretical,
environmental, nanomaterials, organic synthesis, organometallic catalysis, or
polymers. We also offer a concentration in Chemistry Analytics in the M.S. in
Professional Science. The research experience is considerably enhanced by
MTSU's 250,000-square-foot science building and upgraded instrumentation.
Graduates find employment in a wide range of areas and about half continue
their education in high-quality doctoral and/or professional programs. The
department also participates in three interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs
(Molecular Biosciences, Computational Science, and Mathematics and Science
Education).
