Welcome to the Administrative Assistant Certificate ( Swift Current Campus)

This competency-based program allows students  to work individually within a progressive timeline. Students receive practical and applied training in word processing, accounting, spreadsheets, database and Internet searches, office procedures, communications and business calculations. Apply time management, interpersonal communications, meeting planning, and records management to identify and solve business problems.
The administrative assistant certificate provides students with a solid understanding of office procedures and develops skills in key office business applications such as Excel, Word, and the Adobe Creative Suite. The administrative assistant certificate will provide you with data entry skills, fluency in office applications, and hands-on experience with communication and organization.
Career Path
Graduates may find work as data entry clerks, general office clerks or administrative assistants among many other career opportunities. Jobs may include preparing correspondence, reports, statements and other material, operating office equipment, filing, answering phones and other general clerical duties. Our alumni have gone on to work in the oilfield, banking, health care and junior hockey fields to name just a few.

English Language Requirement

Great Plain College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
