Welcome to the Associate of Science Degree (Engineering )

Engineering is one of the largest professions in the United States, with over one million jobs in fields ranging from airplane design to pollution control. The three largest branches of engineering are electrical, mechanical and civil. All branches of engineering place a heavy emphasis on problem solving and mathematics. Engineering education focuses on teaching scientific and engineering concepts and their application to the creative and effective solution of problems. Use math, science, and engineering concepts to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. Use the techniques and tools of engineering at an elementary level to design a device, program, or process to meet specified requirements. Communicate the results of design and analysis orally and through text and graphics. Work effectively in teams. Use effective written, visual, and oral strategies to communicate to a range of audiences. Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and the implications for society at large. Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation and testing, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.

English Language Requirement

College of San Mateo will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
