Bachelor of Arts Criminology

Criminology is an exciting and expanding area of study! Concerns about public safety, crime, and social justice contribute to a strong demand for people knowledgeable in these areas. By studying criminology and justice, you will learn about the causes and prevention of crime and other social harms as well as explore possible solutions to these problems. The Criminology Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University offers multiple program options so you can choose a program that meets your individual needs. We offer excellent academic preparation, with small class sizes and well-qualified and dedicated instructors. Our degree has been carefully developed and reviewed by KPU’s internal committees, external consultants, including other universities and colleges, and approved by the BC provincial government. Our emphasis is on excellence in teaching. Our instructors are highly qualified and come from many Canadian and international post-secondary institutions. The unique community focus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University's criminology programs prepares students for a wide variety of careers in government and the private sector, including careers in traditional criminal justice agencies, law enforcement, and related community agencies. Criminology prepares students for careers in the following areas: Airport Security Officer, Border Patrol Officer, Child Protection Officer, Crime Scene Analyst, Human Rights Officer, Intelligence Officer, Investigator, Juvenile Court Officer, Law Enforcement Officer, Polygraph Technician.

English Language Requirement

Kwantlen Polytechnic University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
