The Associate Degree for Transfer
(AA-T) in English is designed: to introduce students to literature from a wide
breadth of genres, eras, and cultures; to introduce students to the fundamentals
of literary criticism and research; and to reinforce students' skills in
writing and analytical thinking. The AA-T in English prepares students for a
wide range of career pathways since the program emphasizes close reading,
effective communication, and critical thinking. Write clear and coherent
compositions. Create evidence-based arguments. Evaluate expository and literary
texts. Support original interpretation of literary texts. Analyze forms of
literary texts. Use cultural contexts to comprehend texts. Analyze and respond
critically to literary and expository texts. Demonstrate knowledge of a variety
of authors, literary genres, and literary devices.
