Welcome to the Associate of Science Degree (Economics) - Transfer

The Associate of Science Economics transfer major includes the study of human behavior and the choices we make as we attempt to allocate our scarce resources. Economics is divided into two large branches: micro and macro. Microeconomics examines the building blocks of the economy and the individual participants, such as consumers and individual firms or producers. Macroeconomics deals with the economy as a whole. For example, we examine the federal budget and national debt, international finance and exchange rates, government spending and taxes, and monetary policy. The general concern of microeconomics is the efficient allocation of scarce resources among alternative uses. Microeconomics looks at the determination of price through the optimizing behavior of consumers and firms; with consumers seeking to maximize happiness and firms, profit. Analyze social science concepts and theories. Evaluate diverse viewpoints related to the human experience. Produce evidence-based arguments.
