Welcome to the B.A Anthropology

An anthropology B.A. provides a holistic perspective on what it means to be human, both past and present. Our program focuses on anthropological methods, theory, and practice and emphasizes the interaction between human culture, biology, and the environment. As an anthropology student at Southeast, you’ll be trained in all subfields of the discipline: sociocultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, archaeology, and biological anthropology. Our flexible curriculum also provides opportunities for in-depth exploration of the subfields that are of the most interest to you. Engage with qualified faculty who work with students in a small class environment. Our faculty specialize in areas such as forensic anthropology, mortuary analysis, the anthropology of food and beverage, Missouri archaeology, and underwater archaeology.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
