Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (Music) - Transfer

The Associate of Arts Degree in Music for Transfer prepares students to demonstrate transfer-level proficiency in solo and ensemble performance skills as well as music theory and musicianship skills for a seamless transfer into a baccalaureate degree program as a music major. This degree is recommended for students pursuing careers in music and music-related fields. Completion of this curriculum will demonstrate commitment to the serious study of music in practice and in theory, and provide comprehensive preparation for upper-division work. Demonstrate technical fluency, artistic growth, and personal enrichment in musical performance on a given instrument and/or voice in a solo and/or ensemble context along with an introductory keyboard proficiency. Analyze and interpret common elements and underlying structures of Western music and use these components to compose music, sight-read music, and/or notate music upon listening.

Career Path

Possible eventual careers may include music performer, music composer or arranger, music conductor or director, music educator or researcher, arts administrator (for music schools, performing organizations, or media outlets), music journalist, musician manager or promoter, music event manager or producer, music retailer, live audio or recorded music producer or technician, DJ, music copyist or engraver, music publisher, instrument builder or tuner, and music law specialist (such as entertainment or copyright lawyer and music licensing consultant).

English Language Requirement

Skyline College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
