The
geography transfer interest area at Lane can help prepare you to transfer to a
four year institution. Once enrolled, you’ll work with your advisor to build a
degree plan specific to your goals. Through
the study of geography, you’ll explore cultural and natural patterns and the
relationships between people and the places and spaces in which they live.
Geographers investigate reasons to explain "why" cultural and natural
patterns exist in particular areas. Geography courses are designed to help you
become more aware of the nature and diversity of environments, and cultural
practices that impact the world. What
you'll learn; Use technology to map out
spatial patterns and impact on natural disasters. Explore relationships between
people and places they live. Use maps, graphs and mapping technology to collect
and organize patterns of human geography. Apply theories to understand physical
environment. Earning your Associate of Arts, Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree at
Lane with a focus in geography will provide you with the credits you need to
transfer to leading four year institutions for more in-depth study. Our AAOT
degree offers you the flexibility to choose courses that interest you while
meeting university lower division general education requirements. Geography is so much more than studying maps and borders.
It’s about our Earth’s incredibly diverse physical environments and how they
influence our cultures, weather patterns, economies, traditions, and day-to-day
lives. Geography studies offer a unique world view and a way to be more
environmentally and socially informed.
