Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (Political Science)

The Associate in Art for Transfer degree (AA-T) in Political Science is fully transferable to the CSU with no more than 60-semester units. In this program, students develop knowledge, analytical skills, and critical insights in politics. Further, students gain expertise in political issues that have absorbed thinkers throughout the ages, studying the causes and consequences of political developments ranging from local elections to armed uprisings. Demonstrate an understanding of comparative political systems, especially as they relate to cultural components and socio-economic environments. Analyze and articulate the key approaches to the study of the relationship between nations as it pertains to their military, economic, and diplomatic relations. Critically evaluate and be familiar with the nature and process of theorizing in political science and be able to distinguish and categorize different types of methodology and theory utilized in the study of political science.

Careers in federal, state and local governments; law; business; international organizations; nonprofit associations and organizations; campaign management and polling; journalism; education; electoral politics; research, university and college teaching. Political science majors gain analytical skills, administrative competence and communication abilities that are valued in a wide spectrum of potential career areas.

English Language Requirement

Skyline College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
