At the Political Science Department, we are student-centred. We give YOU the opportunity to explore this political world in an intimate setting with experts in the field. Small classes, unique and innovative course offerings, engaged faculty, world-class scholars, and a diverse range of social and learning activities make for an exciting learning environment, inside the classroom and out. Political Science at KPU is particularly strong in the following areas: North American studies with a special focus on Canadian politics, including Canada's    Charter of Rights and constitution, multiculturalism, BC and local politics, and foreign policy; as  well as continental and cross-border politics, and American politics and government; International studies, including international organizations (such as the UN), human rights issues, international political economy, transnational issues, human security, and international law. Exciting "applied" and "experientialcourses that give you the chance to develop hands-on skills in oratory, public debating, diplomacy, and real-world policy work.

Career path

Political Science instils a range of highly transferable skills that are marketable in many fields and several career paths which place a premium upon training in Political Science: Politics, Semi-independent government agencies, International diplomacy and foreign service, International and non-government organizations (NGOs), Advocacy groups, independent research organizations and think tanks, Education, Journalism, Business, Labour unions, public services.

English Language Requirement

Kwantlen Polytechnic University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
