Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (Social Justice Studies) - Transfer

An Associate in Arts in Social Justice Studies for Transfer (AA-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Social Justice Studies, or similar major. Social Justice Studies is an examination of racism, classism, patriarchy, and other forms of oppression from interdisciplinary perspectives of ethnic studies, gender and queer studies, labor studies, and law. This program is designed for students who are interested in examining the structure of oppression, the impact of marginalization on social identity and community history, and the art and mechanics of social movements. Our Social Justice Studies program provides students with an opportunity to engage in critical service-learning, in which students join in collective actions to address social problems in their own community.

Career Path

A major in Social Justice Studies will offer a preparation to students planning upper-division work in Ethnic Studies, Women’s Studies, Education, History, Sociology, Political Science and other fields of social sciences and humanities. In addition, Social Justice Studies is an excellent background for occupational training in community organizing, law, education, law enforcement, and social work. Additional career options include: human resources, public relations, NGO, human rights groups, labor unions, environmental organizations, religious organizations, rights advocacy, journalism, and lobbying.
