KPU's Bachelor of Design, Fashion and Technology program has an international reputation for building tomorrow's fashion leaders. Our unique, industry-focused curriculum gives students the design skills, business acumen and marketing savvy they need to compete in the global fashion marketplace. Upon graduation from the four year degree program, our alumni have been placed in innovative and leading positions in the local apparel and design industry, often beginning their post-graduate careers as soon as a week after completion of the year end event. What makes our program so special? Our teachers are industry leaders who are plugged into the global fashion scene. Our program simulates a professional working environment and constantly adapts to reflect the changing marketplace. Our classrooms are equipped with cutting-edge technology used by industry. Our international exchange program prepares students to become global fashion leaders. Our students study at fashion schools in London, Melbourne, Berlin, Helsinki, Monterrey, Horsens and Taipei. Most people who apply to the program have a passionate, lifelong interest in fashion with an aptitude for creative design, technical construction and an appreciation for fabric, prints, colours and trend forecasting. They are recent high school graduates, transfer students from other institutions, mature individuals returning to the profession or making a career change, or industry personnel seeking an upgrade in skills. 

Career Path 

Graduates of our program have the design skills, business acumen and marketing savvy needed to succeed in the fashion industry. Become a fashion entrepreneur and start your own line. Work in the design, marketing or production department for world-renowned apparel companies. Become a freelance designer. Work in smaller design houses in a role that encompasses all aspects of the business. Direct careers includes Fashion Designer, Apparel Product Developer, Pattern Maker, Textile Designer, Sustainable Materials Researcher, Fabric Development Specialist, CAD Designer (Textiles)Quality Control Technician.

English Language Requirement

Kwantlen Polytechnic University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
