Welcome to the Master of Arts Public History

Southeast offers two options in public history: historic preservation and digital heritage. The historic preservation option will prepare you for further study or career placement in museums, historical sites or agencies. You'll become familiar with issues in public history, material culture, the historic landscape and the built environment. The digital heritage option will prepare you for careers at the intersection of public history and the digital humanities. You'll hone skills connected to the increased uses of technology in documenting, preserving and communicating history. Students can choose to focus on one of three tracks: computer science, educational technology or multidisciplinary.
