to one of the Oldest and most Reputable Biomedical Engineering Departments in
the United States. The Biomedical Engineering Department offers two different
routes for Master's degrees: (1) The Master of Science (M.S.) is a Master's
degree that requires a thesis and (2) the Master of Engineering (M.Eng) is a
non-thesis Master's degree. The M.Eng. is generally recommended for students
who do not plan further graduate studies. Pursuing a M.S. is advised for
students who have a strong interest in research or plan to obtain a higher
graduate degree. In addition to the traditional M.S./M.Eng. programs in BME,
the department also offers a M.Eng. degree in Biomedical Engineering Data
Science. This degree focuses on the data aspects commonly found in the life
sciences with specific applications to the biomedical field. Research areas
includes Biofabrication and Biomanufacturing, Biomedical Imaging and Image
Analytics, Biomolecular Science and Engineering, Musculoskeletal Biomechanics
and Mechanobiology, Systems Biology and Health Care Analytics, and Tissue
Engineering and Regenerative Medicine. We
combine a strong engineering tradition of problem solving with a high level of
scholarship and research.
