Welcome to the BSc. Foreign Languages, Applied Language - Spanish

The ability to speak and understand Spanish opens countless doors and expands one's view of the world. With the news of what's happening around the globe only minutes away, the understanding of different cultures that comes from being bi- or multi-lingual is invaluable. Dynamic faculty members, committed to helping students become citizens of the global community, engage in teaching, research, publication, and other professional activities. The major in Foreign Languages with an Applied Language - Spanish concentration consists of 27 semester hours (excluding 1010). The concentration is designed to prepare students for careers in emergent and in-demand fields that require or are enriched by proficiency in a second language. It is also intended to prepare students to thrive in an increasingly global economy and multicultural society. Before beginning the junior year, the student should file a degree plan with his or her advisor.

Besides opening up a host of career opportunities in traditional foreign language fields (teaching, interpreting, etc.), fluency in Spanish is the ultimate "add-on" skill, often catapulting a job seeker ahead of all other competition in industries as diverse as business, law, and government. English Language Requirement

Middle Tennessee State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
