About

With a focus in one of the most rapidly evolving academic disciplines. Research within the field meets an ever-increasing demand for solid materials from the designers of jet engines and rocket boosters, microelectronic devices, optical components, medical prostheses, and many other products. The principles that govern the processing and structure of materials to produce optimum properties and performance are embodied in the materials engineering curriculum. Both the M.S. and M. Eng. degrees require completion of a minimum of 30 credit hours. For the M.S. and M. Eng. degree students must complete at least 30 credits. The coursework requirement includes at least three of the five 4-credit MSE core graduate courses, namely, Advanced Thermodynamics, Advanced Mechanical Properties, Advanced Structure and Bonding, Advanced Electronic Properties and Advanced Kinetics. Students who successfully complete this program will be able to demonstrate: knowledge of fundamentals underlying the relationship between the structure, property, and performance of materials and ability to formulate, analyze, and investigate the research problem.
