The Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Transfer Program (2+2) offers students the opportunity to begin their studies at Cape Breton University (CBU) and complete their degree at Dalhousie University. In this pathway, students spend their first two years at CBU, where they build a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and introductory engineering courses while benefiting from small class sizes, personalized instruction, and hands on laboratory experiences. After completing the initial two years, students transfer to Dalhousie University to finish the final two years of the program, gaining access to advanced facilities, specialized electrical engineering courses, and industry focused research opportunities. This collaborative program ensures graduates develop both technical expertise and practical skills required to excel in electrical engineering, combining CBU’s supportive learning environment with Dalhousie’s world class engineering education. Students are prepared for careers in power systems, electronics, telecommunications, renewable energy, robotics, automation, and computer engineering, emerging with the ability to contribute to innovation and sustainability.
Career Path
Graduate careers include Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Engineer (generation, transmission, distribution), Electronics Design Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Instrumentation Engineer, Telecommunications Engineer, Embedded Systems Engineer, Renewable Energy Engineer (solar, wind, hydro), Robotics and Automation Engineer, Computer Hardware Engineer, Aerospace and Automotive Electrical Engineer, Industrial Maintenance Engineer, Smart Grid Engineer, Medical Device Electrical Engineer, Project Manager (electrical and industrial projects), Operations Manager (energy, manufacturing, or technology firms), Engineering Consultant, Technical Sales Engineer (electrical systems and products).
