Welcome to the BSc. Computer Information Systems

This course examines in depth how computer systems are designed and developed. You'll have the opportunity to use different hardware and software and gain a variety of useful skills for your future career. A pathway in information systems helps you understand how systems development can transform data into useful outputs for an interface or for decision-making in large organisations. Students in the computer information systems program design, analyze and develop software for the computer systems and networks that power today's world. Computer Information Systems is an exciting, challenging, and growing field that impacts the world and everyday life in countless ways and allows you to make a difference in the world. Gain real-world experience through our department facilities such as the Cyber Range or Internet of Things Laboratory, through internships at any number of renowned corporations, or by working with an actual client as part of your coursework. Work closely with faculty who are industry experts. Select from three advising tracks: Artificial Intelligence, Business Administration, or Cybersecurity.

Career Path

Our computing graduates can pursue careers in areas such as IT support, consultancy, internet and e-commerce applications. Graduates can expect to work as independent consultants or in teams with other computer professionals to build and support modern computing systems.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
