Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (History) - Transfer

History is the study of change and continuity over time. It is a broad and dynamic social sciences discipline that involves examination, interpretation, and analysis of the actions, institutions, societies, and cultures of diverse groups across various times and places. By examining cause and effect, History helps us explain how societies in the past and present came to be and gives us insight into what may happen in the future. The History program at Cañada offers students a unique opportunity to acquire critical and historical thinking skills while also developing a broad background in both U.S. history and the history of different regions and peoples of the world.

Career Path

History program graduates will find themselves with a strong foundation for further study and careers as teachers, documentarians, journalists, lawyers, non-profit leaders, political activists, politicians, professors, archivists, museum curators, civil servants, cultural and historical resource managers, diplomats, publishers, researchers, writers and more.
