Through
this program, students will gain knowledge of human service delivery systems,
communication skills for working with individuals, groups, and diverse
populations, case management techniques, and will gain hands-on field
experience in one or more human service agencies. The program will also
encourage students to think critically about societal conditions that
contribute to the need for social services. View the client as a whole
person in the context of family, culture, and community in assessing the
client's strengths and needs. Demonstrate a working
knowledge of public and private entities that deliver human services, locally
and statewide. Demonstrate an understanding
of the qualities and characteristics of effective human service professionals. Critically
analyze societal factors that create and contribute to social service needs.
Career Path
Students
completing the associate degree are eligible for para-professional level social
work and human services jobs such as, case manager, outreach worker and program
office manager.
