Welcome to the BSc. Education - English

With the English Education degree, you'll develop a broad, rich knowledge of the discipline of English grounded in current research and theory in anti-racist teaching and culminating that helps you build your skills in a yearlong student teaching placement. This program prepares you to be a critically minded and creative teacher capable of developing lessons and projects to help your future students become skilled, confident, and ethical users of the English language. Our university English Education faculty are friendly, accessible, and committed to your success. You’ll work closely with your instructors through your program to grow towards becoming a professional teacher who cares about providing a quality education for future generations. Experience extensive field opportunities in partner schools supported by mentor teachers. You’ll work with students in real classrooms to practice the principles, knowledge and skills developed in your coursework

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
