Welcome to the BSc. (Hons) Nutrition

A nutrition program prepares you to apply knowledge of food and nutrition to health. Nutrition students can choose one of three tracks: Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is an ACEND-accredited program that prepares students for entry into a post-undergraduate internship program to become a Registered Dietitian Nutrition and Wellness track prepares students to work in communities as health educators, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention Nutrition Science track is a science-based program that prepares students for medical school and/or graduate school. you’ll get the option to undertake food analysis and quality control, to improve the nutritional profile, eating quality and safety of food products, or investigate the fundamental aspects of new product design and development, studying the functionality of the main ingredient components of food and their impact on nutritional aspects. You’ll have the choice to specialise further in an area of personal interest, exploring topics like the analysis of foods and processing methods the biochemical transformations which occur during the processing, storage and preparation of foods, and the role heat processes have on the destruction of microorganisms.

Career Path

Nutrition graduates work in the food service industry, hospital settings, school food service, wellness facilities, and county health departments. Examples of job titles include dietitian, food product developer, community nutrition educator, catering manager, and sports nutrition consultant.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
