Students interested in a social work degree are committed to the well-being of individuals, groups, families, and communities, with particular regard for those who are, or who have been, oppressed, marginalized or otherwise disfranchised. The BSW curriculum is designed to prepare students to engage in generalist social work practice and work in a broad array of social service agencies. As part of the academic program, students complete 500 hours of practicum at a social services agency and complete a capstone project that reflects learning in class and in the field. The Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Avila University is accredited through the Council on Social Work Education.

Graduates of this program can pursue careers as Social Worker, Case Manager, Family Counselor, Child Welfare Specialist, Mental Health Advocate, School Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Substance Abuse Counselor, Community Outreach Coordinator, Policy Advocate, Victim Support Specialist, Probation Officer, Healthcare Social Worker, Geriatric Social Worker.

English Language Requirement

Avila Universty - Kansas City, Missouri will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
