As a social work major at
Southeast, you’ll work to improve society’s well-being. With an emphasis on
providing services for the underserved and vulnerable populations of the
Southeast Missouri region, you’ll make a difference while you earn your degree.
Learn from dedicated faculty who care about students and believe in what they
are teaching. Gain valuable field experience through 448 hours under expert
professional social workers. Study in a small class environment. The content of
the program covers the entire field of social work and is divided into the
following areas: Theories and methods of social work, Fundamental concerns of
social sciences, Specific fields of application of social work, Legal basis of
social work, Health promotion and prevention, Psychological and
psychotherapeutic foundations, Methods of empirical research and scientific
work, and Two internships with a duration of four weeks each. Our course will
prepare you for the profession through research-informed teaching, value-based
learning, and practice placements. The modules of the course incorporate the
key skills, expertise, and values for contemporary social work practice,
complimented by two placements providing the opportunity to put your knowledge
into practice. Located within university on the university campus, you will
benefit from modern, hi-tech teaching facilities.
