Welcome to the Bachelor of Music (Instrumental Performance)

An instrumental performance degree will prepare you to perform professionally or create new music in the classical, electronic or avant-garde traditions. And, with a variety of ensembles to hone your craft, you’ll sound good when you do. What You’ll Do As an instrumental performance major at Southeast, you’ll work in applied music study, music theory and analysis, music history, literature and pedagogy for your chosen instrument, and gain experience through performance ensembles. Interact with nationally recognized performing artists and educators. Attend classes on Southeast’s River Campus, a campus solely dedicated to the arts. Gain performance experience through ensembles. The Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance is ideal for students interested in pursuing an intensive, conservatory-like undergraduate career in performance. Students are given various and unique opportunities to hone their craft. In addition to advanced applied study, this program provides foundational study in music theory, history, instrumental pedagogy, and conducting, among other areas. With the Bachelor of Music degree comes frequent opportunities to perform, including but not limited to: required half and whole degree recitals, solo performances in convocation, performance in master classes, ensemble performances, and chamber music.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
