Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (English) - Transfer

An Associate in Arts in English for Transfer (AA-T) from Skyline College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in English, or similar major. A bachelor's degree in English can lead to exciting careers in media, journalism, publishing, paralegal and law, marketing, academia, business, technical writing and web development. English majors gain writing, critical thinking, and soft skills, valuable in the modern collaborative workplace. Composition Courses: Write focused, organized, well-developed, and text-based essays using effective paragraphs, which support a clear thesis statement, and demonstrate competence in standard English grammar and usage. Composition Courses: Demonstrate critical reading, writing, and thinking skills through analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of important ideas. Composition Courses: Effectively evaluate and fluidly integrate relevant sources, using appropriate research strategies and tools, and documenting them according to MLA guidelines.

English Language Requirement

Skyline College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
