Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (Political Science) - Transfer

The Associate in Arts in Political Science for Transfer degree (AA-T) prepares students for transfer into bachelor's degree programs in Political Science and similar programs at a California State University campus and guarantees admission to the California State University system. Political Science coursework in general is helpful to the student who intends to eventually pursue graduate studies in such diverse fields as political science, education, journalism, business and law. Effectively communicate the impact of state and non-state actors on the development and implementation of policy. Critically analyze political theories and ideologies. Discuss the impact of ethnic, cultural and economic diversity on political issues and policy. Evaluate ethical issues and conflicts inherent to political issues. Develop and sustain a lifelong interest in local, national, and global civic engagement through active citizenship. Define, cite examples of, differentiate between, and critique basic political concepts, systems, and theories. Apply knowledge of politics by using the theoretical foundations and analytical tools of multiple sub-fields of political science.

English Language Requirement

College of San Mateo will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit
