Welcome to the BA (Hons) Creative Writing and Journalism

The BA Creative Writing and Journalism progamme will give you a solid grounding in language and communication across a range of creative and journalistic genres and through a variety of media. You will also explore the worlds of media, journalistic and literary employment.This course is ideal if you want to improve your skills as a writer and develop a theoretical foundation of best writing practices
The teaching is varied and exciting, from creative workshops and listening to talks by speakers from the industry to practical work using our extensive media production tools. You will work on your own creative and practical projects, and put together a portfolio of work. You'll also attend demonstrations, lectures, seminars, workshops and one-to-one tutorials, and supplement all this with online and independent study.
In creative writing, you’ll learn important skills for devising, editing, revising and submitting your work. You’ll analyse texts, explore the effects of the author’s choices and create short stories, drama, poetry and creative nonfiction of your own. You’ll also have opportunities to work with schools or museums, attend guest lectures, study abroad or take a year’s work placement

Graduates will be well prepared to go on to careers in creative writing and/or journalism, and across a wide range of industries wherever good writing and critical thinking are valued. screenwriting, playwriting, copywriting, advertising, website management, PR, marketing, branding, and journalism.
