When it comes to the prosperity of a business, nothing is more important than a solid financial foundation. Finance is the study of concepts, principles, and theories that guide strategic investment decisions and determine how firms secure long‑term capital to fund those investments. At Cape Breton University (CBU), finance courses explore both the day‑to‑day operations of a business and the broader strategies that ensure success. Because everyone interacts with money, finance takes a closer look at its management across individuals, companies, and governments. Students examine topics such as world capital markets, investments in real and financial assets, and international finance. A concentration in finance at CBU prepares students for diverse careers in the financial services industry and related fields, equipping them with the skills to make sound financial decisions and achieve balance in their professional and personal lives. The scope of finance is broad, and CBU’s curriculum covers corporate finance, personal finance, investments, capital market theory, financial markets, and global finance. Courses in accounting and economics complement this concentration, providing students with a comprehensive foundation to thrive in today’s dynamic financial environment.
