BSc. Textiles Merchandising and Design - Fashion Merchandising

The Fashion Merchandising Concentration is part of the Bachelor of Science in Textiles, Merchandising, and Design at MTSU. Fashion Merchandising prepares students for the fast-paced, exciting world of the garment industry. A USDA report indicates there is an unmet demand for professionals in the fashion business, one of the largest and most vital industries in the U.S. today. This relatively young world is expanding rapidly; each day many new job opportunities become available to the person with enthusiasm, dependability, and the specialized training for executive responsibility. The major in Textiles, Merchandising, and Design (TXMD) leads to entry-level career opportunities in fashion-related industries. Textiles, Merchandising, and Design majors and minors must earn a grade of C (2.0) or higher in all TXMD courses. The Textiles, Merchandising, and Design program consists of four academic years.

Career Path

The major in Textiles, Merchandising, and Design with a concentration in Apparel Design or Fashion Merchandising leads to entry-level career opportunities in fashion-related industries. Career opportunities are available in a variety of areas within: Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Product Development, Fashion Merchandising and Planning, Textile and Apparel Sourcing, Fashion Marketing and Management, Fashion Entrepreneurship, Personal Styling, Visual Merchandising.

English Language Requirement

Middle Tennessee State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
