Spanish is the most spoken non-English language in the U.S. as well as the fourth most widely spoken language in the world. A degree in Spanish will open many career paths, from working in business to teaching the language. If you are invested in helping connect English and Spanish speakers, start here. You will study both Spanish and the cultures where it is written and spoken to develop a solid understanding not just of Spanish as a language, but also of the people who speak it. You will complete courses in Hispanic literature and culture, and in fiction and non-fiction film and cinema.  The Hispanic world is a major actor on the European and world stage, possessing a rich and sophisticated culture. Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages of the European community and remains a global language of culture and diplomacy. By studying Spanish you will gain a wealth of transferable skills and knowledge beneficial to the world of employment, making you competitive and attractive in an increasingly international workforce and opening the doors to a variety of career paths.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
