Bachelor of Science - Special Education

Our program is highly interactive. You’ll receive extensive training in the use of assistive technology, as well as several clinical and student teaching experiences. Depending on your goals and interests, you’ll choose one of the following emphases: Learning behavior specialist I with professional educator licensure, Special population, Visual impairments with professional educator licensure, Vision rehabilitation therapy. Your path after graduation depends on the degree emphasis you pursue. Some include getting your professional educator license, preparing you to teach in Illinois schools. Other emphases prepare you to work with people in other settings, such as group homes and community organizations.

Graduates of this program can pursue careers as Special Education Teacher, Inclusion Specialist, Educational Consultant, Curriculum Developer, Early Intervention Specialist, Transition Specialist, Education Coordinator, Reading Specialist, Corporate Trainer, Fundraising Manager, Behavioral Therapist, Assistive Technology Specialist, Social Worker (Special Needs Focus) .

English Language Requirement

Avila Universty - Kansas City, Missouri will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
