Rensselaer's Masters in Applied Mathematics focuses on mathematics as it is employed to study science, engineering, or management problems. It stresses construction, analysis, and evaluation of mathematical models of real-world problems, and those areas of mathematics that are most widely used to solve them. The requirements for this degree allow students to prepare for entry into the Ph.D. program in applied mathematics or for employment in business, industry, or government. The emphasis of this program is on mathematics and how it is employed to study science, engineering, or management problems. It stresses construction, analysis, and evaluation of mathematical models of real-world problems and those areas of mathematics that are most widely used to solve them. The requirements for this degree allow students to prepare for entry into the Ph.D. program in applied mathematics or for employment in business, industry, or government. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) offers an M.S. in Applied Mathematics that uses mathematical methods to solve problems in science, engineering, and management. The program requires students to complete at least four graduate-level courses, two of which must be math courses, and participate in a Capstone Professional Experience.

English Language Requirement

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
