Welcome to the PhD. Toxicology

To give theoretical and practical knowledge about the basic concepts in immunotoxicology, evaluation of immunotoxicology, classification of systems in immunotoxicology. Knowledge transfer in acute poisoning treatment, safe usage of therapeutics in pregnancy and lactation, in pediatric and geriatric populations; general principles of safe use of therapeutics in chronic diseases like cardiovascular diseases and in cancer; drug toxicity in risky periods, precaution and treatment.
Four potential processes exist for a chemical interacting with an animal: absorption, distribution, biotransformation and excretion. The chemical may be biotransformed through metabolism into other chemicals (metabolites). These metabolites can be more toxic than the parent compound. After this potential biotransformation occurs, the metabolites may leave the body, be transformed into other compounds, or continue to be stored in the body compartments. Thus, establishing relationships between exposures in toxicology experiments in animals and the corresponding exposures in humans will be also discussed.
Basic principles on drug wastes, classification of hazardous wastes, legal regulations on wastes, surface and underground water contaminations with drug wastes, potential health risks human aand environmental for drug wastes will be given to the course attendants.
