The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS) - Software Development Option allows students to attain knowledge and applied skills for effective software application development, client/server application development, and database application development and management.. Prepares students to attain the knowledge and applied skills necessary to utilize current technology and tools to meet a range of technology needs in business, government, healthcare, education, and other industries. The CIS program provides high level training by introducing students to basic computing concepts while allowing them to develop the applied skills required for the workforce. Courses are taught in cutting edge computer labs so students can learn and practice skills. You will gain hand-on-experience in our modern computer and network technology labs. The varied hardware and software allows you to experience different systems platforms and applications. Gain practical professional experience through UA's optional cooperative education program. Through co-op, you’ll alternate semesters of work and school while earning a competitive salary. The Computer Information Systems (CIS) program offers high-level education and training for future IT professionals. Taught in cutting-edge computer labs, the CIS curriculum gives students the opportunity for specialization.

English Language Requirement

The University of Akron will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
