Communication is the process of conveying information. In today's world, there are a variety of mediums to do just that, including radio, television, publications, the internet and social media. The School of Communication houses a comprehensive program that leads to varied careers in the communication field. The flexible programs offer the diversity to gain advanced communication skills and meet the needs of the 21st century workplace. The School of Communication offers an array of hands-on learning experiences: media production labs, desktop publishing facilities, social media lab, Z-TV student-run television station, television production studio, post-production suites and multimedia classrooms, WZIP-FM, student-run radio station serving Northeast Ohio. The University of Akron's media studies program provides students with hands-on experience to prepare them for a variety of careers within media industries. The curriculum covers both applied and theoretical approaches to all aspects of the field, including media law and ethics, video and audio content creation, editing, producing, and writing for various platforms. Our production equipment is current and cutting edge. Our continued investment into the most advanced technology available will give you the ability to create content that is on par with the industry standard.
